Funding model

skinoncology.net is entirely self-funded by its Editor-in-Chief — a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a sub-specialty interest in skin oncology and reconstruction. Editorial board members give their time voluntarily and are not paid. There are no subscriptions, paywalls, login walls or institutional licences. All clinical content is free to access for any UK or international healthcare professional.

No third-party advertising

The site carries no third-party advertising. There are no display ads, programmatic ads, native ads, banner ads, paid placements, sponsored clinical content or affiliate links. A clearly labelled link to Dermafocal, a separate author-owned paid product, appears only in the dedicated companion-app section of the Tools page. It is a declared commercial interest rather than third-party advertising.

Anonymous analytics (opt-in)

Google Analytics 4 is used to count anonymous page views and understand which content is useful — only if you accept the cookie banner. No advertising features, no Google Signals, no demographics, no profile building. IP addresses are anonymised. You can withdraw consent any time via the Cookie preferences link in the footer. No commercial sponsorship of editorial content

The site does not accept commercial sponsorship of clinical content. Pharmaceutical, device, diagnostic and digital-health companies have no editorial influence:

No paid placements, sponsored monographs, sponsored guidelines or sponsored cases.
No company sight of, or input into, clinical content before publication.
No selection of topics or framing of recommendations on the basis of commercial relationships.
No company logos within clinical pages.

Author-owned commercial interest

The Editor-in-Chief is the creator of Dermafocal and has a financial interest in Adept Surgical Ltd, the company responsible for the app. Dermafocal is a separate paid clinical decision-support product; subscription income may benefit the author.

Dermafocal is mentioned only in a clearly labelled companion-app section on the Tools page.
skinoncology.net receives no payment per click, download or referral.
The interest does not determine clinical coverage, evidence selection, search ranking, editorial review or the availability of the site's free tools.
Contact-form and newsletter subscriber data are not shared with Dermafocal or Adept Surgical Ltd.
Dermafocal has its own terms, privacy information and App Store subscription arrangements.

Conflicts of interest

Apart from the Dermafocal and Adept Surgical Ltd interest declared above, the Editor-in-Chief declares no financial relationships within the last three years with pharmaceutical, device, diagnostic or digital-health companies active in skin cancer that could be perceived as a conflict relating to content on this site. The Editor-in-Chief's NHS clinical income is unrelated to and unaffected by this site. Editorial board members' declarations of interest are stated on their individual profiles.

If this position changes — for example through participation in a clinical trial, an advisory role or an honorarium — it will be disclosed here promptly.

Reporting concerns

Concerns about editorial integrity can be reported via the contact page. Reports are reviewed by the editorial team within 30 days and any necessary correction is made on the affected page with a visible note.

Why this matters

The absence of third-party advertising and commercial sponsorship of editorial content, together with explicit declaration of the author-owned Dermafocal interest, gives the site a clear and reviewable editorial position.
